Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur face Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looking to keep in touch with the top four. It is only two games in for the new man at Spurs but there have been some signs that his methods are taking effect. Eddie Howe, a manager tipped as a possible Tottenham manager before Mourinho’s appointment, will be looking to keep his sides bright start to the season going.
Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Looking for Three More Points
Winning Start
Despite a late lapse in concentration at West Ham United in Mourinho’s first game, Tottenham were positive for 60 minutes. There was none of the tippy-tappy passing around the 18-yard box that had preceded. Paulo Gazzaniga got the ball upfield quickly, allowing Harry Kane and Dele Alli to run the show. Eric Dier was brought back in, a player coveted by Jose Mourinho in his time as manager at Manchester United, but he had a nightmare. Lacking in match fitness and poor passing, he was then hooked after 29 minutes in the Champions League tie against Olympiacos.
Team News
Mauricio Pochettino was keen on rotating his squad. He didn’t pick an unchanged line-up for 94 games in a row.
Gazzaniga continues in goal as Hugo Lloris continues his rehabilitation. Jan Vertonghen is in contention whilst Danny Rose could drop to the bench after another poor performance against Olympiacos. The front three of Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Lucas Moura could continue with Dele Alli returning to form in the hole behind.
Bournemouth are likely to be unchanged but there is talk of Eddie Howe being considered for the Arsenal job, with Unai Emery’s position becoming increasingly difficult.
Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham to Take Another Step Toward Recovery
Another win for Spurs will see a good start continue. Bournemouth will give as good as they get and rarely sit back. They will play to win the game and that could mean an open and entertaining match.
Tottenham need to get the fans behind them and the new manager. Another win here will do no harm whatsoever ahead of their midweek clash with Jose Mourinho’s last club, Manchester United.
Predicted Result
Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Bournemouth
