Oxford United are set to land Motherwell duo Chris Cadden and Alex Gorrin, according to Gareth Law for the Scottish Sun.
News broke yesterday that the U’s looked likely to land Cadden and now Gorrin seems set on joining the Scot in England.
Oxford United Set For Motherwell Swoop
Chris Cadden
22-year-old Cadden is out of contract at Fir Park this summer, but the U’s would need to sort compensation for the midfielder.
As a result, Motherwell could be due €30,000 for each season the winger has played for the Scottish Premiership side. There’s also a likely possibility that Motherwell would be due 5% of any future transfer. The reported figure of £270,000 seems about right for Cadden.
Cadden had a hit and miss season last term. He played as a wing back for early parts of the season, before a four-month absence following injury. He returned to action before the end of the season but the 22-year-old is out of contract this summer.
The winger made his debut for the club in 2013 and has made over 120 appearances for them. Cadden has 12 caps for the U21 Scottish side and made his senior debut in 2018 before adding his second cap.
In 2017, Motherwell rejected a bid of around £450,000 from Oxford for Cadden. The then 20-year-old was also the subject of interest from Hearts at the time.
Alex Gorrin
25-year-old Spaniard Alex Gorrin also looks set to join Cadden at Oxford.
Gorrin joined the Tenerife youth side before arriving in England and joining the Sunderland academy.
But the central midfielder was released and made his senior debut at New Zealand side Wellington Phoenix, where he made 72 appearances.
In 2017, Gorrin joined Portuguese outfit Boavista but failed to make an appearance.
In 2018, the Spaniard signed for Hungarian club Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe, making 12 appearances.
He then made the move to Motherwell, where he has made 20 appearances for the Fir Park side.
Aberdeen, Polish outfit Lech Poznan and MLS duo Toronto and Atlanta United are also keen on landing the Spaniard.
