Preview: Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 36

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 36 has a full set of fixtures to choose players from. It’s a welcome return to a regular gameweek after a series of double or curtailed gameweeks. Hopefully, it will yield handsome returns for all fantasy football managers.

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 36 Tips

Triple Captain Time?

With Liverpool taking on Huddersfield Town, those fantasy managers who are yet to deploy their Triple Captain chip must be thinking about using it this week. Surely, there is no better opportunity than this. However, the midweek UEFA Champions League semi-final encounter against Barcelona might be on Jürgen Klopp’s mind. Could this make him do the unthinkable and rest a few players against Huddersfield?

That is highly unlikely but, if Liverpool are ahead, he might take off Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and Trent Alexander-Arnold early. So, a really massive score from your triple captain might prove to be elusive. This match is being played on Friday night so Liverpool players should get enough time to recover for their big semi-final though. Roberto Firmino, Andrew Robertson and Virgil van Dijk are all decent options from this match as well.

Title Decider at Turf Moor?

Manchester City do not have a great recent record at Turf Moor. They have won only once in their last three visits there. Burnley are not a comfortable side to play against and could cause a lot of problems to Manchester City, especially from set-piece situations. A slip up there could decide the title. Raheem Sterling and Sergio Agüero will have something to say about that, though. Aymeric Laporte will be a busy man intercepting and clearing all the crosses that will be attempted by Burnley. This has the potential for him to generate bonus points. Laporte got three bonus points against Manchester United last night. However, Manchester City will need to keep a clean sheet again for him to repeat that feat this weekend.

The Top Four Battle

Tottenham Hotspur are in pole position to finish the season in third place after their victory against Brighton & Hove Albion in midweek. They have another home game against West Ham United this weekend. Three points from this match will almost guarantee their return to Europe’s elite club competition. Heung-Min Son is suspended for the semi-final first leg against Ajax so he should start and play the full game. Christian Eriksen is in good form but has played every minute of every game recently so he, along with Kieran Trippier, could be candidates for rotation or early substitution.

Manchester United take on Chelsea in a massively significant clash for the top four battle. It will be very difficult for the loser of this match to reach Champions League qualification places whereas a draw may keep both teams afloat in the race. Arsenal, on the other hand, will travel to Leicester City in a bid to avoid three losses in a row. This really is a pivotal week for these three teams. Big players will be expected to produce big performances. Eden HazardPierre-Emerick AubameyangAlexandre Lacazette, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford will be the ones their fans will look up to for inspiration whereas fantasy football managers will expect points. Leicester have the ability to crush Arsenal’s top four ambitions though. Jamie Vardy is in great form and has a good record against the Gunners.

The Relegation Battle

Cardiff City will travel to London in search of all three points against Fulham to catch Brighton & Hove Albion. The Bluebirds have fought hard all season and should fancy themselves this week. Junior HoilettNeil Etheridge and Victor Camarasa could be worth considering. Their main rivals for survival, Brighton, will take on Newcastle United in the afternoon clash on Saturday. The Seagulls fought valiantly in both games last week but could only pick up a solitary point from those two games. They might start the game level on points with Cardiff City. The pressure of a must-win game could take its toll on their players. Mathew Ryan, Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk have to keep things solid at the back and hope they can nick a goal somehow. Even though Newcastle are safe, one would expect their players to give a good account of themselves. Ayoze Pérez and Salomón Rondón could enjoy a productive afternoon on the south coast.

Southampton have the opportunity to ensure their survival by beating Bournemouth at home. James Ward-Prowse and Nathan Redmond could do well. If Danny Ings starts, he could do well too.
