Games are coming thick and fast, as the deadline for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 29, which is just three days away. So, let’s look ahead to what’s in store for us this weekend.
Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 29 Tips
With most teams having to play three games in a week, there’s bound to be some knocks and niggles we don’t know about. So, try to wait for confirmed team news before finalising your lineup. Early team news suggests Sead Kolasinac could be a doubt for Arsenal in the North London Derby. Also, Pascal Gross might be out for Brighton & Hove Albion. One has to keep an eye out for Eden Hazard‘s status as well as he was taken off after around 60 minutes last night.
Captaincy Picks
This season, picking players from the teams facing Fulham has been a solid strategy in most weeks. This weekend, it’s Chelsea who will face the Cottagers. Gonzalo Higuain could be a great choice for the armband. If he delivers, it could see a huge boost in your rankings as he is not owned by that many fantasy managers (2.7%). Eden Hazard is definitely the best choice but one has to closely monitor team news. Maybe it was just fatigue for the mercurial Belgian. Marcos Alonso had a good game last night and picked up three bonus points in Fantasy Premier League alongside the clean sheet points. Could he, and indeed Chelsea, be returning to form?
Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjær are going from strength to strength and even the massive number of injuries can’t seem to stop them. They notched up a club-record eighth away win in a row last night against Crystal Palace. This weekend, they face relegation-threatened Southampton at Old Trafford. One would expect another win for the Red Devils in this game. Paul Pogba is definitely a strong contender for the armband. He has scored six goals in the last five home games. Also worth considering are Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw. Even though Romelu Lukaku scored twice, one would expect Rashford to get back to the starting lineup. Luke Shaw has been doing quite well of late and United have a good shot at a clean sheet this week as well.
Other Top Contenders
With a rest under his belt, Raheem Sterling seems certain to start this weekend at Bournemouth. The Cherries were thrashed by Arsenal last night but are stronger at home. Manchester City seem to be struggling with injuries though, and needed a penalty to see off West Ham. One should still consider Sterling and Sergio Aguero from this game.
The North London Derby is a match that almost always sees a lot of goals. Harry Kane has a great record in this fixture and could punish the Gunners. Son Heung-min could also profit from the fragile Arsenal defence. Similarly, one has to consider the deadly duo of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. Although, in recent games, Unai Emery has started one or the other so who knows which one will get the nod this time?
Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold were sublime last night against Watford. Liverpool fans will want more of the same from their fullbacks in the Merseyside Derby this Sunday at Goodison Park. Even though this is not traditionally a high-scoring fixture, the Reds could run riot there. It all depends on Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Their form is pretty inconsistent in away games.
Differentials to Consider
Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Leicester City assets seem to be quite lucrative. This is because they are likely to play in every gameweek until the end of the season, unlike many other teams. They also have a new manager, which always seems to do wonders for any side. Jamie Vardy and James Maddison are most likely to profit from the appointment of Brendan Rodgers so they could be worth bringing in now. Their fixture is a slightly tricky one this week, away to Watford, but they could still do well.
Glenn Murray is generally a solid choice for Brighton home games and they face bottom club Huddersfield Town this week. However, the Seagulls are in terrible form and it may not be easy against the Terriers who notched up a rare win on Tuesday against Wolves.
Wolves themselves have a decent home fixture against Cardiff City. This could be a good match to get back in form for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side after they failed to win in the last three games. Raúl Jiménez is probably the best choice from this game.
