Chelsea Midfielder Cesc Fabregas Agrees to Monaco Move
This season, Fabregas has started five Premier League games, playing only 175 minutes. His main role is to play Europa League and cup games, mostly featuring when the squad is rotated. Additionally, the 31-year-old’s great performances have not granted him regular playing time. In the Europa League, Fabregas has an average rating of 7.12. He assisted twice in four starts in the competition. The former Barcelona man has made it clear he wants to leave as he is unhappy with his role in London.
AS Monaco have taken advantage of the situation. AC Milan were also in the race to sign Fabregas but their pursuit of the player ended due to financial difficulties at the club. On the other hand, Monaco, who are currently struggling in the league, identified the star midfielder as the perfect option to flip the team’s form. The Ligue 1 side are currently second bottom and in the relegation zone. In the 2016/17 season, the club were champions of France. Currently, Monaco are in danger of dropping to the second division.
Cesc Fabregas has been offered a five-year deal with the eight-time Ligue 1 winners. Chelsea will receive €10 million from the transfer but the deal will not be made official until a replacement is bought. Maurizio Sarri publicly expressed his desire to keep Fabregas at the club, though the player is not willing to spend more time with The Blues. Instead, he will start a new journey in Monaco in an attempt to lead the club out of the relegation zone.
