Captaincy Picks

Until now, things related to the FPL captaincy have been reasonably comfortable with Mohamed Salah and Sergio Aguero‘s home fixtures alternating nicely. This week, however, both of them are away from home. This makes things quite interesting indeed.

Watford and West Ham are not exactly the most formidable of opponents. Aguero’s away record is quite sketchy as well, as he has only scored one goal away from the Etihad Stadium this season. The Argentine only has one away assist to his name as well. Salah has done slightly better with one goal and two assists away from home so far this season. Liverpool’s recent away form has not been great, though. Could Watford spring a surprise? Will Aguero continue to struggle away from home? With question marks against both Salah and Aguero, one has to consider some of the other options seriously.

Differentials to Consider

On paper, Everton seem to have the easiest fixture. Cardiff at home should see the Toffees pick up all three points. Obviously, football is not played on paper and Cardiff just picked up their first win in the last round. Still, one has to consider Everton players quite seriously this week. The first name that comes to mind is Richarlison. The Brazilian is in fine form and picked up 15 points in the last home game. He also scored for Brazil during the international break. Brazil also played both of their matches in England, so Richarlison doesn’t have to face a long travel from South America. He should be a decent shout for the armband this week.

The Bournemouth v Arsenal fixture should be fascinating. Both teams have done well offensively this season. Arsenal are on a long unbeaten run but they have drawn their last three matches. Their tendency to start matches slow could put them in trouble against the Cherries. This match could see four or five goals in it so the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should be considered. The Arsenal duo are currently listed as doubts, though, so check the team news before making your selection.

Manchester City players are worth considering no matter who they are up against. West Ham at home aren’t exactly the most watertight so the likes of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Riyad Mahrez, David Silva and Bernardo Silva should be considered. The trick is to predict first who will start and then who will get the spoils. With Benjamin Mendy out injured, Fabian Delph or Oleksandr Zinchenko will probably start. Will that affect City’s attacking play?

Another potentially interesting fixture is Manchester United v Crystal Palace. The most in-form player is probably Anthony Martial. His fitness is a cause for concern though. Also, who knows which United will turn up.

Another fixture to consider is Wolves v Huddersfield. The likes of Raul Jimenez, Matt Doherty and Rui Patricio could do well in this matchup at Molineux. Doherty is a bit of a doubt, though.
