Charly Musonda set for loan move to Celtic

As reported by The Scottish Daily Record, Antonio Conte is keen on letting the youngster leave the club on loan. The 21-year old has struggled to break into the team this season and a loan will allow him to gain some valuable playing time.

With a previous spell at Real Betis, the winger has attracted interest from a host of English clubs. However, the chance of playing under Brendan Rodgers may seal a huge coup for the Scottish champions.

Why Celtic?

Many would consider a move to Glasgow a step down in Musonda’s career. Despite moving away from the Premier League, though, this move will open up a number of opportunities for him to thrive.

The raw talent Musonda has will certainly turn him into a regular starter in Celtic’s squad. Furthermore, the prospect of not only Europa League football this season, with the Hoops facing Zenit in the last 32 next month, but a possibility of Champions League games next season.

Also, like Chelsea, Celtic are a successful side with plenty of chances to pick up some silverware throughout the season. Celtic have won all four of their last domestic competitions and this dominance looks set to continue.

Brendan Rodgers is a big admirer

The Northern Irish boss has been keen on the Belgian playmaker for a while now and is generally successful at developing young players.

A good example to look at is Patrick Roberts’ two loan spells at Celtic from Manchester City. The English winger has improved his game under Rodgers whilst pushing Celtic to a higher level.

Speaking to the press, the manager commented on the quality that is Musonda:

“Charly is a big talent, you’ve seen him come on the other day for Chelsea at Brighton.

“He’s a terrific talent, so we’ll see.”

With the transfer window slamming shut on Wednesday, Celtic will be hoping to complete a deal for Charly Musonda which would be a terrific move for all parties.
