Oxford United Sign Cameron Brannagan From Liverpool
Brannagan Back in League One
Brannagan is no stranger to League One football. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Fleetwood Town, helping them to secure a fourth-place finish and a place in the League One play-offs.
With some League One experience to boot, there is no reason why Brannagan cannot fit into the Oxford side. Furthermore, if his prospectus is anything to go by, he is certainly one to watch.
End Of An Era
Having joined Liverpool at the age of five, Brannagan spent 16 years on Merseyside, appearing mostly in the youth teams. He did, however, make nine first-team appearances during this spell.
It was not until current manager Jurgen Klopp arrived at Anfield that Brannagan was provided with the opportunity to feature in the first-team. He made his first appearance for Liverpool against Bordeaux in the Europa League, coming off the bench.
Brannagan made his first ever start for Liverpool in October 2015, against AFC Bournemouth.
One For The Future?
Brannagan has been receiving praise for quite some time now. It’s been reported that scouts from Barcelona were once watching the player, which is high praise indeed.
Brannagan now has the chance to develop his game and show his worth on a more competitive stage than youth football. If he fulfils his potential, there’s no reason for him not to be back in the Premier League very soon.
As Oxford United go in search of a play-off place, perhaps the nature of competition shall benefit Brannagan. Experience shall most certainly be of the utmost importance for him.
