Oxford United secured their first Championship double with an entertaining 4-1 victory over bottom club, Sheffield Wednesday.
The U’s were relegated ahead of the game following results elsewhere but the performance without the pressure was evident.

Here are three talking points from the game.
‘Why Didn’t We Play Like That in Previous Games?’
A question many fans will be asking but the answer is simple; Wednesday were already down and have been for some time.
It’s a rare occurrence that Matt Bloomfield’s side have more of the ball but against the Owls they were on top from the off, even scoring after just five minutes.
But the fact of the matter is, there haven’t been many teams that have been worse than Oxford this season so they made this young and inexperienced Wednesday side look like a League One outfit.
Oxford United Showed Real Quality
Admittedly, the opposition didn’t cause much of a threat, but the U’s showed some real quality during this game.
Will Lankshear scored a brilliant brace, highlighting that he’s a top player, while the wingers in Aidomo Emakhu and, in particular, Stan Mills, were a nuisance for the Owls defence.
The backline was rarely tested but looked well organised while Jamie Cumming stayed alert to make some crucial saves when needed.
It was also a gritty but disciplined display from Oxford’s midfield, who enjoyed themselves with time and space on the ball.
Ending on a High
It took 25 years for the U’s to get back to second tier football and despite being relegated ahead of kick off, Oxford ended their home season in style.
They head to Millwall on the final day with the Lions still pushing for the final automatic promotion spot but to put in that display in their final home game at Grenoble Road will be pleasing.
