Tottenham vs Atlético Madrid: Confirmed Lineups and Team News

Here is the latest team news and confirmed lineups for this evening’s Champions League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Atlético Madrid. With Spurs carrying a 5–2 defeat over from Madrid, the onus is on Igor Tudor’s side to make a historic comeback. A 1–1 draw against Liverpool on the weekend lifted spirits. Tottenham will hope the momentum from Richarlison’s 90th-minute leveller carries into this tie. While the battle against relegation remains the top priority, the team will be highly motivated to reach their first Champions League quarter-final since 2019.

Atlético enter the match following a 1–0 victory over Getafe at the weekend. Bringing a three-goal cushion to London places Simeone’s side as heavy favourites to progress. Over the years, his team have built a reputation for their ability to hold leads. Having already reached the Copa del Rey final, there is a genuine opportunity to make this season one of the best in club history. With Spurs chasing the game, Atlético will be expected to display their vintage defensive stability.

Destiny Udogie and Lucas Bergvall are set to return, but are not yet ready to start. Speaking at Tuesday’s press conference, Tudor confirmed: “Destiny and Lucas will be on the bench tomorrow. One part of the game, not too much.”

Cristian Romero and João Palhinha suffered a clash of heads in the first leg and were absent against Liverpool. When asked whether they would return, Tudor replied: “Romero is there… he can play. Joao no. He is doing worse so he will be for the next game.”

Conor Gallagher has been dealing with illness and will require further assessment. Tudor said: “We will see tomorrow if he is fit for the bench.”

Souza and Yves Bissouma are not registered in the Champions League squad and are therefore ineligible. Bissouma also remains sidelined through injury.

To Be Assessed: Conor Gallagher.
