Defensive Doubt? Latest Oxford United Team and Injury News for Tough Trip to Middlesbrough

Oxford United face another tough away day when Matt Bloomfield’s side travel to Middlesbrough.

Michal Helik is the latest injury doubt for the U’s but they did welcome some key players back for their FA Cup game against Sunderland.

As for Boro, they’re without a few for this fixture.

Tyler Goodrham – Ankle

Academy graduate, Tyler Goodrham has been ruled out for the rest of the season following surgery on his ankle.

Nik Prelec – Groin

Loanee Nik Prelec remains sidelined with a groin injury and still faces some time out of the squad.

Brian De Keersmaecker– Shoulder

Brian De Keersmaecker is still expected to miss around a month of football after picking up a shoulder injury in recent weeks.

Michael Helik – Quad

Vice captain Michal Helik is the latest injury doubt after the Polish defender missed the FA Cup fixture against the Black Cats with a quad issue.

Oxford’s Returning Players

Both Jamie Donley and Jack Currie made a return last time out so the duo will be raring to go at the Riverside. However, Myles Peart-Harris was rested but should also be available.

Middlesbrough Injury News

Alex Bangura – Muscle

Defender Alex Bangura sustained his latest injury during Middlesbrough’s Championship clash against Southampton last month.

George Edmundson – Hip

Fellow defender George Edmundson has had an injury-hit campaign, managing just six league appearances. His last outing came at home to Blackburn on Boxing Day.

Alfie Jones – Ankle

Also injured in that Blackburn fixture was Alfie Jones. The defender has since had surgery on the ankle issue that forced him off.

Seny Dieng – ACL

Senegal international Seny Dieng remains sidelined with an ACL injury. Boro were looking to offload him during the January transfer window but a move to Feyenoord fell through.

Darragh Lenihan – Ankle

A long term absentee, Darragh Lenihan hasn’t been registered as part of Kim Hellberg’s 25-man squad.

Middlesbrough’s Returning Players

Leo Castledine – Muscle

Chelsea loanee Leo Castledine has missed the last three games with a muscle injury but could be in contention for this fixture.
