Leicester City Predicted Lineup and Team News vs Bristol City for December 10

Following a much-improved win against local rivals Derby County, can Leicester City kick on and gain some momentum? Whilst the defeats against Southampton and Sheffield United seemed to be the nail in the coffin, some adjustments from Marti Cifuentes seem to have worked. Dropping Harry Winks completely, Bobby Decordova Reid and Oliver Skipp back, whilst a more youthful approach is evident on the bench. Therefore, here is the Leicester predicted lineup as they travel to Ashton Gate to take on Gerhard Struber’s Bristol City.

How Leicester City Have Lined Up Recently

In the clash against Derby County, Cifuentes made a few changes amid the growing frustration both on and off the pitch. With Jakub Stolarczyk back, Asmir Begovic returned to the bench, with City’s number one back where he belongs. With Bade Aluko and Victor Kristiansen both out, Luke Thomas remained at left-back, whilst on the other side, skipper Ricardo Pereira also started. Furthermore, with Ben Nelson returning from injury, he partnered Jannik Vestergaard, a partnership which guided strong performances against Middlesbrough and Norwich.

Meanwhile, in midfield, more changes came. A training ground dispute saw the aforementioned Winks removed, which led to Skipp partnering Jordan James in the double pivot. Alongside this, Decordova Reid played in the number 1o role and managed to find the opener after just eight minutes. With Jeremy Monga sidelined, both Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi provided width. To cap off the eleven, Jordan Ayew led the line and almost ended his goal drought if not for a controversially ruled out goal.

Leicester City’s Recent Form And Tactics

Although any hopes of Leicester pushing for play-offs were severely hurt by defeats against Southampton and Sheffield United, the response against the Rams was nothing short of spectacular. Three goals in the first half, all coming from a midfield trio that excelled in Winks’ absence. City supporters have constantly questioned Skipp’s quality given the fee paid and his experience at Tottenham Hotspur; however, it seems like he’s beginning to gel.

The 25-year-old put in an impressive display at centre-back against the Blades, a performance which gave the Foxes much more control in possession. Likewise, he found the net for the first time in Royal Blue to further epitomise his improvements. With Winks out, the impetus was always on Skipp to kick on, and he certainly has. He perhaps lacks the intelligence and the volume in terms of passing, but he more than makes up for it with his desire and work rate out of possession.

Aside from this, a more youthful approach that many fans hoped for at the start of the season also seems to be coming into fruition. By the end of the game at Pride Park, six academy graduates were on the pitch for City, which emphasises the quality at their disposal. Not to mention the fact that talented 17-year-old Jake Evans was an unused substitute. The forward signed a new deal with the Foxes in October, despite rumoured interest from clubs such as Manchester United and Spurs.

Leicester City Team News

As confirmed by the Spaniard, injuries are affecting the squad.  Positives last time out, seen both Stolarczyk and Ben Nelson start after devastating injuries during games. Likewise, Harry Souttar returned to training and will be raring to go after a year out injured. In terms of negatives, Monga missed out, which subsequently gave the opportunities to Silko Thomas and Evans. Aside from this, Aaron Ramsey, Victor Kristiansen and Caleb Okoli are the long-term injuries, with Winks also not likely to be up for selection after yet another fallout with the coaching staff.
