Chelsea, despite some injuries, have started the 2025/26 season positively. The BlueCo ownership have become synonymous with signing younger players. The work of Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart has been criticised, but it appears a new recruit could be arriving at Stamford Bridge in a senior sporting leadership role. Dave Fallows, the former Liverpool director of scouting and recruitment, is in talks to join the Chelsea project, as reported by The Athletic.

Chelsea have undoubtedly had some great success in the transfer market with players such as Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo excelling since moving to Stamford Bridge. There have also been some questionable signings, with some leaving quickly or failing to justify their hefty transfer fees.
Should Fallows move to Chelsea, it is expected that he will work alongside current sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, and co-directors of recruitment and talent Joe Shields and Sam Jewell.
Fallows would be expected to be heavily involved in scouting, player pathways, and football development.

He enjoyed 12 successful years at Anfield, leaving in October 2024, and spoke highly of his experience at the time:
“I have been very privileged to work for this incredible football club,” Fallows said at the time. “The fantastic people here, starting with the supporters, make it so special – to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented players and colleagues past and present who are now friends is something I am very grateful for.”

Fallows installed Liverpool’s data-led approach, transforming their player recruitment, leading to the club signing key players such as Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Alisson.

These signings, and others, were vital to the club’s success, helping them win both the Premier League and the Champions League, as well as the League Cup (twice), the FA Cup, the Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup during Fallows’ spell at Anfield.
He would bring a wealth of experience to Chelsea and a proven ability to identify players that can transform teams.
