Manchester United Rocked by Massive Valuation for International Target

Ex-Arsenal Captain Predicts Ruben Amorim Sacking Before Christmas: ‘One Defeat Away From Crisis’

Manchester United have had a tough start to the season. Their first game, and arguably their hardest, was actually their best performance, as they narrowly lost 1-0 to Arsenal and frankly outplayed them. However, a draw to Fulham, an incredibly embarrassing loss to Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup, and a fortuitous win against Burnley followed. Ex-Arsenal captain William Gallas has predicted manager Ruben Amorim to be sacked by Christmas.

Ex-Arsenal Captain Predicts Early Ruben Amorim Sacking

‘One Defeat Away From Crisis’

Gallas, ex-Arsenal captain, has spoken about Manchester United manager, Amorim: “He looks lost…I don’t think his body language and emotional response are giving a good impression to his players or the Manchester United fans”. The former defender continued to reveal that he is unsure whether the Portuguese manager will “make it to Christmas”.

He explains that “it feels like United are one poor performance or defeat away from a crisis”. The Red Devils have had plenty of those already this season, as Grimsby knocked the English giants out of the EFL Cup on penalties; the League Two side had even led 2-0 in the first-half. Meanwhile, they scraped past Burnley at home with a 97th-minute penalty. Next up they face rivals Manchester City, and Chelsea the following weekend. It is hard to see where Amorim turns things around.

Do Manchester United Need Results Now?

Gallas outlines that “The job is all about results at this point and they lost to Grimsby…the club can’t afford to lose on the pitch”. United do have a new stadium to come, but after years of mediocrity, surely they must concede that this project will take time?

Sacking managers as soon as things get tough hasn’t worked for United in recent years. Amorim only came in partway through last season, signing one player in January (Patrick Dorgu). In fairness, he has now been backed, with the club bringing in three big-money signings in the summer transfer window. However, to bring in three huge names, all in attack, will cause some disruption to the side and the system.

It would be unfair to expect Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Bryan Mbeumo to all immediately gel with each other and start playing fluid football. We are only three games into the Premier League season after all. Even if Amorim was sacked at any point before Christmas, as Gallas predicts, it would still be somewhat premature.

This is not the same Manchester United that Sir Alex Ferguson dominated with; the board cannot expect immediate results. As Gallas says: “United have the same problems as any other mid-table side, and that’s what they are these days”. No mid-table side would expect to immediately shoot into the top five after appointing a new manager.
