Tottenham Hotspur Team News and Predicted Lineup vs Newcastle United for February 10

‘It’s Really Difficult’: Tottenham Hotspur Youngster Reveals the Honest Reason for Leaving This Summer

Tottenham Hotspur had a busy 2025 summer transfer window, with a few key signings for the first-team, but also – importantly – a lot of outgoing loans for their promising young players. Some of these were players who have come through the Spurs academy and are ready to gain experience in the English Football League. However, Luka Vuskovic has just joined up with the squad after technically only signing for the club this summer, and he has revealed his reasons for going straight out on loan to Hamburg.

Luka Vuskovic Reveals Honest Reasoning for Loan Departure This Summer

‘It’s Really Difficult’

Vuskovic joined Tottenham Hotspur this summer. They technically agreed a deal with Hajduk Split in 2023, for around £12 million, but he could not officially join at the time due to regulations: he was only 16-years-old. For Thomas Frank’s opening three matches, Vuskovic sat on the bench but was unused before making the temporary switch to Hamburg.

The Croatian has since revealed his reasoning for departing so quickly after joining up with the squad, even if it is temporary. He talked about training and potentially playing alongside both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven: “It’s really difficult…I’ve faced them and I realised that I still have to work harder”.

He praised them as “two of the best centre-backs in the world” and admitted that it was really tough to play at their level. Tottenham did, in fact, offer him the opportunity to stay and play a role as a back-up in case of injuries and cup matches, but Vuskovic wanted “continuous minutes” to improve.

With Romero a club captain, and signing a new deal until 2029, and van de Ven just 24-years-old, it may be a while before Vuskovic is ready to take over the reins, and so a loan may be the smart move.
