Liverpool vs Tottenham: Confirmed Lineups and Team News

Liverpool ‘Informed’ By ‘Amazing’ Player About ‘Clear Desire’ to ‘Open New Chapter’

A strong opening day performance vs Bournemouth saw Liverpool win their first game 4-2, in a good start to their title defence. A window of high spending paired with some healthy outgoings appears to have paid off for The Reds. However, Federico Chiesa has now reportedly had a change of heart regarding the future of his career, of which he has informed the club.

Liverpool Star Informs Club Of His Desire for Future

‘More Space’ for Federico Chiesa

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chiesa and his agent have “informed” Liverpool of a change of heart regarding the Italian’s future. He now has a “clear desire” to stay with The Reds, despite him holding a different stance for most of the summer: the 27-year-old had considered leaving in June and July.

Chiesa started just one match in the league last season. He did suffer an injury, but this only ruled him out for about ten weeks. After watching Liverpool reject bids for star Luis Diaz, he may have expected a similar fortune this campaign, and being left out of the Asian tour squad will have all but confirmed this.

However, Diaz has now left for Bayern Munich, opening “more space” for Chiesa in the squad. He even came off the bench against Bournemouth to score the winner in the Premier League opener. The “amazing” player now hopes to “open [a] new chapter” on Merseyside.

Minutes Still Difficult to Find

As a natural right-winger, it will be difficult for Chiesa to displace Mohamed Salah, either as a starter or even off the bench, who often plays 90 minutes. Against the Cherries, it was Florian Wirtz who made way.

Even coming on for Cody Gakpo on the left could be difficult, should Alexander Isak join the club. Meanwhile, youngster Rio Ngumoha is pushing for minutes and a way into the team in the long term. It still does not seem like there are sustainable minutes available for Chiesa in the next year or two.
