Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal are “getting closer” to an agreement with Sporting Lisbon for their striker, Gyokeres. The fee has been a problem for this whole saga, with a gentleman’s agreement reportedly broken between the player and his club for a ~£65 million exit fee. This may have put off other suitors like Manchester United.

However, the negotiations appear to be going well as Romano reports that the Gunners are now “willing” to get closer to the asking price of a £60 million up-front fee alongside almost £9 million in add-ons. Fans will be begging for the board to just reach these demands, as Arsenal have been crying out for a striker for years. This would be a “dream” transfer, fixing Arteta’s biggest problem and arguably putting them in a great position to contend for the league.
