Leicester City full-back Victor Kristiansen remains an option for many clubs, including ‘ambitious’ Sunderland, following the club’s return to the top division. The 22-year-old joined the Foxes in the winter of 2023, in a bid to help the club avoid relegation. He has struggled in England, having been ousted for Luke Thomas this past season.
Leicester City’s International Defender Linked With Move Away
Victor Kristiansen: A Fresh Start?
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, links between the left-back and Sunderland are reliable. The links come from Roma previously showing interest, and their former sporting director, Florent Ghisolfi, is moving to Sunderland. Therefore, a move would make sense, especially given Kristiansen’s Premier League experience.

Di Marzio also mentioned prior that the Dane has suitors in several places, so there may be interest from both England and Italy. Back in 2023, he also made a move to Bologna and helped Thiago Motta’s side to a 5th-place finish. As a result, it also makes sense that he has admirers in Serie A.
How Would This Move Affect Leicester City?
Despite playing 45 times in royal blue, it would be fair to say the full-back wouldn’t be a huge miss. In his first season, he showed glimpses but was also still raw, having moved from FC København, where he played 72 times.
Following this, a Bologna loan spell came during City’s Championship season. This was because Enzo Maresca wanted a full-back to either invert into midfield or play as a third centre-back during build-up. Therefore, he departed and was replaced by Manchester City’s Callum Doyle. Under both Steve Cooper and Ruud Van Nistelrooy, he became a prominent figure as they often wanted him to advance high and hug the touchline.
Despite this, towards the end of the season, Thomas replaced him. Overall, it’s clear that he could be someone to cash in on given his admirers. The Foxes have plenty of other options. Academy graduate Thomas showed much improvement last season, whilst youthful option Olabade Aluko was also in and around the squad. Not to mention that James Justin offers versatility on either flank and has plenty of experience in the second tier.
