Despite some clubs still playing competitive football at the Club World Cup, the transfer rumour mill continues to heat up. Arsenal frustratingly fell away at the end of the Premier League season and will be eager to strengthen this summer, closing the gap on Liverpool. However, it appears they may face a fight to hang on to one of their star players, with Christian Falk of Bild reporting that Bayern Munich have made contact with Gabriel Martinelli’s management over a potential summer transfer.

With the summer transfer window rumour mill gathering steam, Bayern Munich are said to have contacted Martinelli’s management with the hope of signing the Brazilian winger. Martinelli is reportedly part of a five-man Bayern shortlist, alongside Nico Williams, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Jamie Gittens.

The Times has also reported on the potential departure of Martinelli, floating the idea he could depart as part of a clear-out at the Emirates. It is suggested that Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson, Jakub Kiwior, Fábio Vieira and Albert Sambi Lokonga could also depart as Arsenal look to bring down the club’s wage bill.
Gabriel Martinelli to Bayern Munich
Martinelli’s contract is due to expire in 2027, with Arsenal’s hierarchy reportedly looking for offers in excess of £50 million. However, it is also reported that the North London club could take up the option and extend Martinelli’s deal by a further year.

Since moving to the Gunners, Martinelli has made 225 appearances, scoring 51 times and providing 29 assists. With no offer on the table thus far, any potential deal appears to be some way off, but with Bayern making contact, that interest now appears to be genuine.
