Brighton Predicted Lineup vs Brentford for April 19

Brighton are back to league action this weekend as they make the trip to the capital to face Brentford. The Seagulls are currently winless in five games, four in the league. Their last Premier League game carried on their recent disappointment, as they got pegged back twice at home to Leicester City in a 2-2 draw. This has left them in 10th, six points off the top seven. Here is our Brighton predicted lineup as they take on Thomas Frank’s side at the Gtech Community Stadium.

How Brighton Have Lined Up Recently

Bart Verbruggen remains the number one goalkeeper. Jack Hinshelwood carries on to fill in at right-back with Brighton having several defensive injuries. This caused midfielder Carlos Baleba to slot alongside skipper Lewis Dunk as centre-back in the draw against Leicester. Pervis Estupinan remains at left-back. Eiran Joe Cashin was the only senior defender on the bench.

Yasin Ayari got the nod over Diego Gomez and Mats Weiffer in the previous game, with Matt O’Riley playing just in front of him. With Georginio Rutter possibly out for the season, Joao Pedro will be filling in for him in the 10 role. Fabian Hurzeler could also call on 20-year-old German Brajan Gruda. Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh are Hurzeler’s starting wingers, with Simon Adingra and Solly March waiting in the wings. Danny Welbeck is the striker, playing just ahead of Pedro.

Brighton Recent Form & Tactics

Hurzeler has opted for a 4-2-3-1 for the majority of the second half of the season. Baleba would sit in front of the defensive back line which would free up the other midfielder. The striker and attacking midfielder will drop deep and play with freedom, causing confusion and giving Brighton an upper hand when attacking. The wingers are pushed on up the pitch, with them utilising their pace to get in behind defences.

These tactics worked wonders for the Seagulls after they went seven games unbeaten just after their 7-0 loss to Nottingham Forest. However, with injuries to a number of players, fatigue is setting into the squad. This makes it harder for them to continue their high-press tactics. Their defensive vulnerabilities have been exposed in recent weeks, with the Sussex outfit having conceded at least two goals in each of their last three games.

Brighton Injuries And Absentees To Consider

Hurzeler still has to nurse a long injury list, which includes Ferdi Kadioglu, Igor Julio, Tariq Lamptey, James Milner, Rutter, Jason Steele, Joel Veltman and Adam Webster. Hurzeler revealed Mitoma is fit to feature. This is a massive boost for the Seagulls.
