Leicester City Predicted Lineup Vs Aston Villa
How Leicester City Have Lined-up Recently
The Manchester City defeat saw the Foxes put in one of their best performances of the season. However, the out-of-form visitors managed to take all three points and withstand the home side’s pressure.
Jakub Stolarczyk has been the preferred option in between the sticks with both Mads Hermansen and Danny Ward being sidelined. The centre-back partnership of Jannik Vestergaard and Conor Coady continued their run of starts last weekend as Caleb Okoli has been reduced to minutes off the bench. Then providing width has been James Justin and Victor Kristiansen as they have also started every game under the Dutchman.

The double pivot of Harry Winks and Boubakary Soumaré have been front and centre recently as the duo impressed last time out. On the wings, it was Stephy Mavididi and the returning Facundo Buonanotte, as Jordan Ayew was suspended. Bilal El Khannouss then kept his position in the centre and has been in sublime form.
Despite being ruled out against Liverpool with a knock, it was Jamie Vardy who led the line against Manchester City. Patson Daka then came off the bench late on, whilst Odsonne Edouard wasn’t included.
Leicester City’s Recent Form and Tactics
Despite the loss, Van Nistelrooy’s side looked much improved last time out. However, they still looked poor defensively and didn’t manage to take advantage of their success in possession. Their loss and Ipswich’s win now see the Foxes fall into 19th and two points off safety.
The Dutchman opted for just two changes from the eleven away at Anfield as Vardy returned from injury and Jordan Ayew returned from suspension to keep his place in the starting eleven. Coming into the game, both sides had been poor as they were 18th and 20th in terms of form for the past nine matches.

It would be fair to say that Pep Guardiola’s side edged out the first half as they had nine shots and found the opening goal. Leicester did see some success early on though as they had five shots and missed one big chance; it was clear the visitors weren’t back to their best and were still vulnerable in transition. The second half would then see some of the Foxes’ best football as they won 59% of possession, had six shots and missed two big chances.
Van Nistelrooy’s side showed clear progression in terms of possession but defensive errors were still present. Erling Haaland was often allowed too much space and ended up cementing his sides’ lead late on. However, the midfield proved their quality on the ball with the likes of Winks, El Khannouss and Soumaré being at their best. It was yet another loss but signs of hope were shown in their competitive performance.
Leicester City Injuries to Consider
First-choice goalkeeper Hermansen is still sidelined and is said to be struggling to recover from his groin injury. Wout Faes was doubtful in last week’s 2-0 defeat due to a knock but could be back on Saturday. Wilfred Ndidi has been out since the 2-2 draw with Brighton but is said to be returning in early January. The only attacking option set to miss out is Kasey McAteer due to a recent knock.
