Newcastle United Predicted Lineup for Premier League Clash vs Manchester United
How Newcastle United Have Lined-up Recently
Eddie Howe will take his Newcastle United side to Old Trafford in fine, goalscoring form to compete with Rubin Almorin’s struggling Manchester Utd squad who have lost to Spurs, Bournemouth and Wolves in their last three games. It’s a sorry sight to see this great club languishing so far down the table but all Newcastle will be thinking about is how to secure another three points.
Kieran Trippier returned to the side in his familiar right-back role when Newcastle again ran out convincing winners against Aston Villa. Fabian Schar, Dan Burn and Lewis Hall have been defensive mainstays in this impressive run of form for Newcastle with fourth-placed Nottingham Forest in their sights.
It’s in midfield where Newcastle have excelled in recent weeks. I was at their home game against Leicester a few weeks ago where the blend of Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton was just too much for Leicester to cope with. Tonali is growing into such an important cog in this key area of the pitch. Playing a more defensive role with his impressive range of passing, it frees up Guimaraes and Joelinton to spot the movement and running off the ball from Alexander Isak, Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon. Isak is in the form of his life, attracting interest from a number of clubs, notably Arsenal. His speed, allied to his close control and finishing makes him one of the most dangerous strikers around.
Newcastle’s Recent Form and Tactics
Given that they are just five points away from a top-four spot, dreams of Champions League qualification for the Magpies are now more realistic. On a run of four wins on the bounce in all competitions, it’s their goalscoring form that the hosts will be most wary of. Four against both Leicester and Ipswich with three against both Brentford and Aston Villa is impressive by anyone’s standards. It’s true to say that their away form could improve.
Newcastle have been inconsistent on their travels, winning three, drawing three and losing three away from St James Park. But the Geordies will surely fancy their chances at Old Trafford where the home side have picked up just thirteen points from twenty-seven available, a poor return. With Bruno Fernandes suspended after his red card against Wolves, Newcastle will again look to dominate the middle of the park to feed the front three of Murphy, Isak and Gordon, all potential match-winners.
