‘Here We Go’: Arsenal Complete Shock Transfer for ‘Serial Winner’ to Achieve League Title

Raheem Sterling looks set to complete a shock move to Chelsea’s London rivals, Arsenal. This will be his fourth Big Six club, after starting at Liverpool and moving to Manchester City.

Shock Switch: Raheem Sterling Leaves Chelsea for Arsenal

Player Wanted the Move After Mikel Arteta

Fabrizio Romano has given his “Here We Go” for Sterling to leave Chelsea and join Arsenal. Chelsea accepted the final conditions, whilst the player wanted the move having spoken to Mikel Arteta. All documents are signed and there is no option to buy.

The move is a season-long loan, as the Blues want to get rid of deadwood. Sterling would’ve struggled to play many minutes, especially after the arrival of Jadon Sancho to Stamford Bridge today, and was told by manager Enzo Maresca that he had no future at the club.

Why Do Arsenal Want Raheem Sterling?

The move for Sterling seems an odd one, given the 29-year-old’s patchy time in West London. He scored six and eight in his respective Premier League seasons, tallies lower than each of his final five at Manchester City.

However, Arteta did work with Sterling at City, and has a habit for reuniting with his former colleagues; he has already brought Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus with him.

The biggest selling point is that Sterling has bags and bags of winning experience. A “serial winner”, he has four Premier League titles, five EFL Cups, and one FA Cup under Pep Guardiola. This is something that the Arsenal squad could absolutely benefit from, after falling at the final hurdle to the aforementioned Spaniard in the last two title races.

On the pitch, he would bring composure and control. When chasing games, or trying to protect leads, this would be the ideal substitute. Arguably more importantly, he would be a great figure in the dressing room, to advise a very young and still inexperienced squad. This could be a genius signing if Arteta finally wins his league title.
