How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Djordje Petrović has been the first choice goalkeeper for most of the season after taking over the reins in December. The back four has depended on availability with Malo Gusto, Marc Cucurella, Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva, and Alfie Gilchrist all playing across the back line.

Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández were the main defensive midfield pairing. With the latter undergoing surgery he is likely out for the season and has been replaced with Conor Gallagher. Cole Palmer has moved centrally to play at the central attacking midfield spot with Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, and Nicolas Jackson occupying the other three spots.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

Mauricio Pochettino has stuck religiously to his 4-2-3-1 setup. After a lengthy undefeated streak his side now finds themselves on a run of three matches without a win including one heavy defeat to Arsenal. The club’s form has been erratics for most of the campaign as this recent string of fixtures has shown.

Defending is once again a big issues as they’ve shipped seven goals in their last two matches. A lack of clean sheets has been a consistent issue for months now. With their goalscoring touch also lacking since the 6-0 drubbing of Everton, it’s exposed how poor they are at grinding out results.

Chelsea Injuries to Consider

The club have provided an official update on injuries with Silva and Disasi now sidelined. Levi Colwill, Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Robert Sanchez, Raheem Sterling, and Lesley Ugochukwu have all returned to training in some form but likely won’t be able to start.

Carney Chukwuemeka, Fernández, Ben Chilwell, Gusto, Wesley Fofana, and Romeo Lavia remain sidelined.
