Reports From Milan

Reports from Milan on Tuesday suggested that the Portuguese forward was a “top target” for Mikel Arteta’s side and that the player himself is open to a move away from Italy.

Writing in his Daily Briefing column on Wednesday, Fabrizio Romano added that he is not aware of any talks for the Rossoneri’s star winger and that there are zero updates at the moment.

The journalist added: “Another Milan story that’s raised some eyebrows is a report linking Rafael Leao as a top target for Arsenal, but I honestly have zero updates on this one. I’m not aware of talks or anything.”

Rafael Leao’s Season in Serie A

Leao has not had the best of seasons in Italy. Despite making 27 appearances in the league, the 24-year-old only has six goals to his name. After taking the famous No.10 shirt at the club, expectations were high for the former Lille-man. However, he has failed to recapture his form from the year before.

Nevertheless, the Italian outfit value Leao and have also placed a hefty £150 million release clause on him according to Romano. The transfer inside also adds that the player is very happy at Milan and is fully focussed on the ongoing season.

“Leao is happy at Milan, he has a £150 m release clause and is fully focused on Milan now, so nothing is happening as of today.”

Arsenal have been linked with a whole host of attacking options for the summer as they aim to build a fearsome attack for the future. Whether they are successful in bringing someone like Leao to North London is something that will be seen in the near future.
