Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs West Ham United

How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently

They have been largely unchanged recently, with manager Erik ten Hag deploying a 4-2-3-1 formation. Aside from the FA Cup fourth round victory over Newport County for which he was on AFCON duty, André Onana has started every game in goal for the Red Devils.

In defence, Diogo Dalot has been preferred to Aaron Wan-Bissaka recently, with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez the default centre-back partnership if both are fully fit. Luke Shaw is the regular left-back, with Wan-Bissaka/Dalot filling in there as and when the Englishman has been unavailable.

In midfield, starlet Kobbie Mainoo has been an ever-present of late and partnered by Casemiro since his return from injury against Newport. Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen have been deployed as rotation opinions when the Brazilian has been out with injury in recent weeks.

In the forward positions, Bruno Fernandes is a permanent fixture as an attacking midfielder, flanked by two of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony. The first two have been preferred when available, with Garnacho starting on the right wing and Rashford the left.

Rasmus Hojlund has been consistently starting as the focal point of the squad.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

Manchester United have won three and drawn one of their last four matches in all competitions, with the caveat being that two of those wins have come against lower league FA Cup opposition in Wigan Athletic and Newport County. The draw came against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League (2-2)

A dramatic 4-3 victory away at Wolves on Thursday, February 1st gives the Red Devils some momentum going into Sunday’s clash with West Ham.

With the returns to fitness of Martinez, Shaw and Casemiro, there has been a significant improvement in the build-up play in recent games, especially through the midfield with the imperious Mainoo a key man. Going forward, the returns of crucial figures seem to have inspired an upturn in goalscoring form for Rashford and Hojlund, with two goals in two games for the former and three in three for the Dane.

Nevertheless, there is still a concern about the Red Devils tendency to switch off in games, notably losing leads in the past three, albeit going on to regain the lead and seal the win in two of those.

Manchester United Injuries to Consider

Victor Lindelof is back and available for the Red Devils after several weeks out with a groin injury.

Despite being taken off against Wolves, Ten Hag has stated that the decision to substitute Lisandro Martinez was just a precautionary one and the Argentine will be fit, although full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a doubt and Tyrell Malacia is still out for the forseeable future.

Mason Mount is working his way back to fitness and will be unavailable for the game, but Sofyan Amrabat will be back in the squad after AFCON disappointment with Morocco.

Anthony Martial is a long-term absentee as he recovers from surgery on a troublesome groin.
