How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Robert Sanchez has lost his spot in goals due to injury with Djordje Petrović stepping in for the recent matches. The back four has been riddled with injuries leading to an all-centre-back lineup of Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile, Thiago Silva, and Axel Disasi lining out as the defensive line.

The defensive midfield pivot has shifted from Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez to Caicedo and Conor Gallagher, which is likely to continue as Fernandez went off early in the Carabao Cup due to illness. Mykhailo Mudryk, Cole Palmer, Gallagher and Raheem Sterling have been the main attacking options. Christopher Nkunku made his debut as a substitute midweek but is likely not ready for a full 90 minutes just yet.

Nicolas Jackson has been the trusted starting striker, Armando Broja has rotated in to rest the Senegalese attacker but usually features off the bench.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

Mauricio Pochettino has continued to be steadfast with his 4-2-3-1 base setup no matter the results. They have won the past two matches which came off the back of two consecutive defeats so results are still quite spotty.

Last time out in the league, the Blues managed to keep a clean sheet which will be promising for the manager and the players as the defence has been leaky recently. Goals are thankfully not as much of an issue as they once were although they do still draw the occasional blank in front of the posts.

Chelsea Injuries to Consider

There’s some mixed news from the most recent injury report. Lesley Ugochukwu, Noni Madueke, and Romeo Lavia have returned to full training while Ben Chilwell is in partial training and Fernandez is being assessed after his brief cameo against the Magpies.

Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka, Marc Cucurella, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, and Sanchez are definitely ruled out.
