The journalist claims that right now there is still time for the parties to take concrete steps into finalising a new contract for the midfielder. He reiterates that Chelsea are pleased with Gallagher’s performances for the club this season, but they will take some time to discuss a new contract for him.

The 23-year-old’s current contract with the London heavyweights expires in June 2025. Hence there is still time for Pochettino’s side to start discussions with the Englishman over a new long-term deal to keep him well beyond that period.

The Englishman has provided four assists in 14 Premier League appearances for his side and also captained the Blues quite a few times in this campaign. Gallagher has shown a lot of heart with his energetic displays, winning possession in key areas and adding more liveliness to Chelsea’s attack. The 23-year-old, hailed as “extraordinary” last year, seems to be here to stay at the London side for years and will probably see his good form rewarded with a new contract.
