Leeds United, currently third in the Championship, are in a tight contest to return to the Premier League. Following last year’s relegation, several key players were allowed to leave due to clauses in their contracts which provided them the ability to be loaned away while remaining under contract. Brenden Aaronson, who is on loan to Union Berlin, could possibly return to Elland Road according to Stuart James.

Aaronson’s Comments
James, who writes for The Athletic, covered his interview with Aaronson in a lengthy article. When asked about the chances of playing for Leeds again, the American winger/midfielder said “For sure, it’s possible. It’s not done and dusted or anything like that.” He views the experience with Union in the Champions League and Bundesliga as something that would benefit the club should he return.

Aaronson’s connections to Leeds have not wavered, and James described his interest in returning as “genuine.” There are three more years left on the 23-year-old’s contract. Should Daniel Farke not steer the Whites back to the English top flight, there does remain a chance that the USMNT star finds another loan opportunity next season.

Return to Leeds in His Sights
A former RB Salzburg player, Aaronson is doing his best to stay in shape and perfect his footballing skills as he waits on Leeds to secure promotion. “It’s just been tough to get a rhythm,” he stated when asked about his time in Germany. The capital club’s form has dipped significantly since their fairytale run last year.
This is not something that the youngster is shying away from. “It’s like I always say, the show must go on,” he replied when asked about suffering relegation with Leeds and following 11 consecutive losses at Union. For now, the “highly-skilled” attacker is completely focused on improving his game. Elland Road awaits his return.
