The update from Romano confirms “discussions (are) ongoing” between Arsenal and Odegaard over a new long-term contract. He confirms Odegaard could be the “next top player” for the Gunners to commit his future to the club after recent extensions with William Saliba, Gabriel, Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, Gabriel Martinelli and Reiss Nelson.

The news of a possible new contract for the midfielder will please all connected to Arsenal. Mikel Arteta seems to be building a core of players, which the Norwegian appears central to, with the Arsenal boss praising him for his development last season: “We are really happy he represents the club in the way he does. He needs to continue to develop those skills in the best way because the demands will keep increasing, and his role hopefully as well.”
