Manchester United Defender Now Expected to Be Out Injured for 10 Weeks as Injury Crisis Worsens - Luke Shaw

Dharmesh Sheth has dropped a surprising update regarding Manchester United’s transfer activity. According to the Sky Sports journalist, the Red Devils are now targeting Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to strengthen their midfield.

United Have Already Made ‘Initial Contacts’

The Red Devils have already initiated contacts to try and bring in Spurs’ holding midfielder, Hojbjerg. The 28-year-old has fallen out of the starting lineup since the arrival of new coach Ange Postecoglou. Sheth reported that the London-based side is open to the departure of their Danish midfielder if they receive a suitable offer.

Erik ten Hag wants to bring in a defensive-minded midfielder to provide balance to the team’s midfield. The three-time Champions League winners are also targeting Ryan Gravenberch and are still following Sofyan Amrabat to bring more solidity in the middle of the park. The Dutch manager is familiar with all three players as he has coached each one of them at some point during his managerial career.

United’s Transfer Market Activity

The Old Trafford-based club have already brought in Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund to bolster their starting lineup in this summer window. They have also offloaded quite a few players including long-serving goalkeeper, David de Gea and Brazilian midfielder, Fred. Donny van de Beek could be the next player to leave the Premier League giants.

The 20-time Premier League champions received a major blow recently when Luke Shaw suffered a muscle injury. With Tyrell Malacia also ruled out due to an injury, Ten Hag is left without a senior left-back in the squad for the foreseeable future.

The club’s management is evaluating multiple options to cover the left full-back spot. Marc Cucurella of Chelsea, Sergio Reguilon of Tottenham, and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso are the players being considered. They have also enquired about Nicolas Tagliafico, another player United’s manager has previously worked with.
