What Have Liverpool Told Salah About Saudi Move?

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Saudi Arabia club Al Ittihad are now pushing to sign Salah and that “They made a very big proposal”, nearly doubling the wages offer they were willing to give in their opening proposal in July. They are also ready to open negotiations with the Reds over a possible signing and get a deal done before the window closes. He states that Salah’s representatives have directly contacted the Premier League side about discussing the latest offer.

Romano adds that the Merseyside club have made it clear to Salah that if he really wants to move to Al Ittihad, he will need to push for a transfer and ask them directly about wanting to leave.

The 31-year-old has not done that yet, nor has he shown any intention of wanting to leave anytime soon. Romano adds that the Al Ittihad president has been in Europe pushing for this move over the last 48 hours, and they have been trying to sign him during the entirety of August.

Liverpool seem unwilling to lose arguably their most important player this summer and are adamant that he will not be sold, as Romano states. Interestingly, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas rubbished claims of his summer departure earlier this summer, but it appears that Al Ittihad are still pushing to sign him. Salah, hailed for his “incredible” goal-scoring record at Anfield, has started the season well and scored a goal in their opening two games of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
