According to Matteo Moretto, “combative” Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a target for Spanish club Atletico Madrid. Spurs have been active in the transfer market so far in terms of both arrivals and departures, and the Danish midfielder looks to be the next in line to depart the club. The Spanish club have already captured two Premier League players this summer, Caglar Soyuncu from Leicester City and Cesar Azpilicueta from Chelsea.

The Londoners have recently lost their talisman, Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, and now Hojbjerg could soon follow him out of the exit door. The Spanish club have targeted the player since early in the window, and Moretto recently revealed that the operation is still alive. The former Southampton man is reportedly keen on the move to Madrid.
Moretto reported earlier in the month – that the player had already agreed to personal terms with the Rojiblancos, and only the agreement between the clubs is pending.
How Tottenham’s Midfield Could Set Up Without Hojbjerg
The Dane is a solid defensive presence at the base of the midfield providing cover to the backline. His potential departure could mean a more prominent role for Oliver Skipp. In his short tenure till now, Ange Postecoglou has preferred the partnership of Skipp and Yves Bisouma in a double-pivot midfield setup. This suits the playing style of both players as they have the license to advance into attacking areas.

With new arrival James Maddison being the creative force in the attacking area, this midfield trio could provide the perfect balance to the Lillywhites in the middle of the park. Rodrigo Bentancur’s return from injury will only strengthen their midfield and provide them depth.
