‘Discussing’: Fabrizio Romano Drops Intriguing Liverpool Transfer Update on £50M-Rated ‘Wonderkid’

Liverpool's Anfield- Ryan Gravenberch set to join

In his latest YouTube video, Fabrizio Romano dropped a bombshell for Liverpool fans, confirming that the Reds remain very much in the race to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton. The Merseyside club have been proactive in “keeping in contact” with the talented midfielder’s agents and are actively negotiating a “final price tag” with the Saints.

Saints’ Valuation of the Midfielder

Romano revealed that Liverpool “keep working” on the deal, indicating that the Anfield outfit remain committed to securing the services of the 19-year-old despite interest from across Europe.

The club’s representatives have reportedly maintained regular communication with Lavia’s agents, showcasing their seriousness in pursuing the transfer.

The negotiation process, however, has not been without its challenges. The transfer insider shed light on the discussions between the clubs, stating that the fee Southampton want “is around £50 million”. Both parties are working towards a resolution but it appears Liverpool’s valuation falls a little short.

Romeo Lavia Is the Number One Priority

While the club’s interest in the Belgian is evident, they have not placed all their eggs in one basket. Romano emphasized that the “wonderkid” is “not the only target” for the Merseyside club in this transfer window. This seems to suggest that the Reds are exploring multiple options to strengthen their squad.

With a host of experienced midfield talent looking likely to be on their way out of Anfield this summer, it is only emphasized how important the next signing could be. Lavia however, remains the top priority for this role and continues to be a prominent and “concrete” target for Liverpool.

Chelsea Also Interested

Chelsea have also expressed an interest in the teenager, according to Romano. He clarified that the Blues’ interest in Lavia is “not linked to Moises Caicedo”. Their priority still lies with the Ecuadorian midfielder, but they are “following the situation”.

The London-based club’s interest may also pose a bigger threat to Liverpool than originally thought. Their connection with Romeo Lavia reportedly goes beyond mere interest.

“Chelsea Director Joe Shields has a special connection with the player”, Romano mentioned. Shields has worked with the youngster during their time at Southampton and Manchester City, which created a positive and familiar rapport between the two.

But despite this admiration for Lavia, Liverpool remain firmly in the race and are determined to secure the 19-year-old’s signature.
