The Mbappe to Madrid transfer saga has been given a new twist by the latest developments, as the French talisman was left out of the PSG pre-season squad amidst contract disputes.

Real Madrid’s Pursuit Last Season
Les Parisien’s all-time top scorer was heavily linked to Los Blancos last summer when his previous contract was in its final months. Florentino Perez was eager to bring the sensational forward to the Bernabeu and wanted to build a long-term project around him and Vinicius Jr. The transfer saga culminated with the pacy forward deciding to renew with the club from the French capital.

The Frenchman signed a two-year deal with the team which is set to expire in the summer of 2024. The Los Blancos President did not close the doors on the forward’s signing in the future despite this. In an interview with El Chiringuito TV last summer, Perez said: “I’ve never said it’s over between Mbappé and Real Madrid forever. I never said that. In 3 years, many things can change”

PSG announced their pre-season tour squad on July 21 and shockingly, the France national team captain was not a part of the 29-man squad. This has raised further speculation regarding the striker’s future, with Romano suggesting that the Ligue 1 champions believe that their star man already has a deal in place with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The Italian journalist further suggested that the team “feel betrayed” by their star forward’s actions and they are certain that he has “already agreed a free transfer with Real Madrid”, after saying in an earlier interview that he would never leave PSG for free.
The transfer market expert reported that the French side do not want to succumb to the demands of one player. The journalist wrote on his Twitter handle: “PSG feel betrayed as they’re certain Kylian has already agreed a free transfer with Real Madrid. PSG Open To Offer From Any Club
Romano reported that they are open to offers from any club and will not put a veto on any offers. The Parisian outfit just want to ensure that Mbappe does not leave on a free transfer. Whether this is a boost or a hurdle for Madrid’s pursuit of the 24-year-old remains to be seen.
This puts the reported 2024 free transfer agreement in jeopardy as the Ligue 1 champions are adamant they want to sell the player this summer. The French club’s stance might attract offers from clubs across Europe, posing a threat to Los Blancos’ pursuit of the French forward.
