Van de Ven’s Feelings on Tottenham Move Revealed

Spurs have already started making moves in the summer transfer market and recently announced the acquisition of midfielder James Maddison from Leicester City to add more firepower to their first-team squad. Now it appears that they’re focused on signing a new defender who can help improve their defensive shape.

Romano adds that Van de Ven has personally told the Bundesliga side that he strongly desires to join the North London club in the summer window. It’s added that the Dutchman remains a top target for Tottenham and that they are also holding negotiations with the German outfit and trying to find a solution to get the deal over the line.

Spurs are, although, not just focused on the Dutch defender as their only centre-back target. Romano further claims that they’ve also held contact with Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba and are keeping their options open when it comes to deciding which is their ideal new centre-back option.

What Can Van de Ven Bring to Spurs?

The Lilywhites appear to have been impressed with the Dutch centre-back’s performances for Wolfsburg last season, helping them keep 11 clean sheets in 33 games in the Bundesliga and produced some admirable performances throughout the campaign as well.

Van de Ven has been described as a ‘lightning fast’ centre-back and has even been compared to Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk by the Bundesliga official website. He can bring something different to Spurs, with his impressive pace and ball-winning ability as well as distribution style using his left foot. The 22-year-old can also play as a left-back if needed and his versatility can help him soar under Postecoglou too. It remains to be seen if Tottenham can get this deal over the line and sign the talented Dutchman anytime soon.
