Romano reports that the Merseyside club is aiming to make another midfielder their next signing. That is why they have scheduled more talks with the representatives of Kone and Thuram, two of their summer targets after sealing the Mac Allister signing.

It is noted that Liverpool have not yet made an official bid to sign either of the midfielders, but both remain on their wish list for the time being. It does, however, look like the Reds’ next signing will be that of a new midfielder as Jurgen Klopp appears to be hellbent on strengthening their midfield line with younger players to compete with players like last season’s breakout star Stefan Bajcetic.

How Could Manu Kone or Khephren Thuram Fit In at Liverpool?

The club seem to be eyeing the signing of another midfielder with high work rate, pressing ability and well as the ability to create from the midfield. Fortunately for them, all those skills are in the two midfielders they are in talks with.

Thuram is a versatile, hard-working midfielder who could set them back just over £51 million. He has scored two goals and provided eight assists in 48 appearances for Nice and has over 100 appearances for them at the age of just 22. Kone, meanwhile, is also an energetic presence in midfield – someone who loves winning back the ball with his crunching challenges and made 31 appearances for the Bundesliga side. The Frenchman could cost as much as £35 million. Both of these players seem to be ideal fits for Klopp’s high-pressing style.
