Manchester United Now Looking to Sell Young ‘Sensation’ – Erik ten Hag Doesn’t Trust Him

Anthony Elanga in training

According to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have slashed the price of young “sensation” Anthony Elanga, changing their tune and deciding to listen to offers for the Swede this summer. With Champions League football coming to Old Trafford next season, it makes sense that Erik ten Hag is looking to move out players who don’t have his trust, and Elanga’s lack of game time even after talks with the boss confirms that he fits this category.

With 19 of his 26 appearances in all competitions coming off of the bench and a total of zero goals, Elanga’s playing time drastically decreased throughout the season. The right-footed winger was either on the bench or not in the squad at all for the last 11 games Premier League games of the season, having lost his place in the squad to 18-year-old Alejandro Garnacho and new signing Antony, whose relationship with Ten Hag stretches back to their time together at Ajax, among others.

The lack of minutes has heavily affected Elanga’s transfer value.

Having peaked in estimated value at £23.25 million in October 2022, the youngster now has an asking price of just £10 million.

In addition to the cut price made by his club, he will likely exit the Manchester side for a bargain price compared to other wingers of his age and abilities.

Plenty of Time Left

Although it appears his stay with the 13-time Premier League champions is coming to a close, there is plenty of time for Elanga to develop and star at another club. With international and top-flight experience under his belt, he is more than qualified to be signed as a starter by another first-class side.
