The future of ex-Celtic striker Dembele has been decided according to Romano, with the 26-year-old set to leave the club on a free transfer this summer. He has enjoyed a prolific spell in Ligue 1 scoring 70 goals in 171 games in all competitions. His contract is due to expire in June 2023.

This current season has been a frustrating one for the forward, with various injuries and a loss of form, which has seen him score just 3 times in 27 games in all competitions. The report also states many clubs are interested in signing Dembele, including Premier League and Serie A teams. Everton and Aston Villa have both been linked with the forward in recent times.

Dembele Career Recapped

Dembele has enjoyed a prolific career, and at only 26 years old it feels there is plenty more to come from the ex-Celtic striker. During his spell at Parkhead, he was their talisman scoring 51 goals in 94 games across all competitions. While at Celtic, his performances and goal-scoring exploits attracted praise from Pep Guardiola, who described the forward as “exceptional.”

Following his productive spell in Scotland, he moved to Ligue 1, where his goalscoring exploits have been impressive, with the 2021/22 campaign standing out, where he scored 21 league goals in 30 games. During the January 2020 transfer window, he was linked with a move to Manchester United, where their scouts saw him score for Lyon against Bordeaux. A disappointing loan spell at Atletico Madrid during the 2020/21 season did not stop him, as he returned to top form the following season.

What Dembele Would Bring to a New Club

The French striker is at his best when running in behind the opposition defence, which is undoubtedly one of his best attributes. Another strength he would bring to any club is his impressive acceleration, which can be utilised when running in behind, or pressing from the front. Dembele is also adept at playing with his back to goal and linking up with his teammates, but he’s at his most effective running in behind and getting into goal-scoring positions. Whoever wins the race for his signature, at 26 years old, he could be the bargain of the summer transfer window.
