How Manchester United Have Lined-Up Recently
Erik ten Hag has been plagued with key injuries to his squad in recent weeks but is going to use his strongest possible 11 for this one. The trusted members of the backline, like David de Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Luke Shaw should all start this – with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof likely to slot in the centre-back roles.
Casemiro has been one of United’s best players this season and remains the undisputed midfielder. Fred, who was hailed as an ‘extremely valuable player’ for United by Ralf Rangnick last season, should replace the suspended Bruno Fernandes. Anthony Martial and Antony’s impressive form should get them to start, with Jadon Sancho also getting better.
Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics
The Red Devils have picked up their form since the loss to Newcastle United last month, having won three out of their last four games in all competitions. They’ve also played seven games in the Europa League against La Liga sides this season, winning four of those matches.

Despite all the injuries to his players, Ten Hag is unlikely to change his tactics or adopt a more defensive-based playing style against Sevilla. He’ll stick to his patent 4-3-3 formation and ask his players to play on the front foot. That involves trying to dominate the possession, moving the ball quickly from the backline to the final third, and being innovative with their attacking moves.
A lot of emphasis is put on United to use width to its advantage. Their attacking style involves using their wingers to dribble forward with the ball and move centrally into the box, where they try taking shots at goal or cutting back to the forwards. The wing-backs are also proactive in making overlapping runs to support the forwards, while also being deputized with their defensive duties too. Casemiro – who starred in their Carabao Cup final win in February – should help the backline by dropping deep, while he also tries creating chances with his splitting progressive passes.
Manchester United Key Players
Antony is probably the most in-form fully fit United forward and heads into this game in good form. He’s starting to get better & better with his dangerous forward runs and more accurate with his curling effort. If he can improve his decision-making and be clinical in the final third, the Brazilian winger can turn the tides in United’s favor in this one.

Martial is also churning out respectable performances, as he loves dropping deeper to help link-up attacks and is very efficient with his finishing too. Jadon Sancho is still a bit indecisive in the box, but his general movement and link-up play make him a major threat to United. Christian Eriksen should play a more advanced role in this one, as he tries to continue his good form after an early return from injury and run the show for United.
Manchester United Injuries to Consider
Lisandro Martinez is ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining a nasty injury in the previous game against Sevilla. Raphael Varane is also out for a few more games due to an injury he also suffered in that game. Alejandro Garnacho and Donny van de Beek are still recovering from their injuries. Bruno Fernandes is suspended for this game. Fortunately for United, the likes of Marcus Rashford, Marcel Sabitzer, and Shaw were seen training before this game – meaning they could feature.
