Absences

Attacking players like Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic are out of the squad entirely which leaves Graham Potter with fewer options to fill a front three than usual.

On the defensive end, Thiago Silva and Wesley Fofana are unavailable which leaves the team without two of their best centre-backs for this clash with Villa. On a brighter note, N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount return to the bench, Kante could make his first appearance in some time as he makes his recovery from a long-term injury that kept him out of the World Cup.

Possible Formation

The trio leading the line are Mudryk, Felix and Haverz. The latter duo are constant fixtures in the starting eleven while injuries allow the Ukrainian international a chance to impress at Stamford Bridge.

What is a mystery is the midfield/defensive lineup. A 4-3-3 looks likely with Loftus-Cheek, Fernandes and Kovacic as the three but it is also possible that Graham Potter moves the Englishman to right wing-back with James as the third centre-back. Although, with Benoit Badiashile on the bench that would be a strange choice.
