Telles had featured in the Red Devils’ first pre-season campaign under Erik ten Hag, but he wasn’t able to impress the gaffer enough to remain a part of his plans for the season. He moved to Sevilla, who are currently in a relegation battle in La Liga – but are going to face United in the Europa League quarter-finals.

Romano adds that the Brazilian defender is going to return to the Manchester club at the end of the season because Sevilla did not add an option or obligation to buy him permanently in the loan deal. After that happens, the Red Devils will decide what to do with him in June or July – which means he could be sold in the summer transfer window.

Telles has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford and saw his parent sign Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia in the last summer window, with the Dutchman competing with Luke Shaw for the left-back position at the club all throughout this season.

Telles’ Spell at Manchester United Recapped

The 30-year-old left-back arrived at United in 2020, with his debut for the club coming in their Champions League group stage match against PSG in the 2020-21 campaign. He was praised for his impressive performance in that game, with then-United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer commending him for his ‘great delivery’ as well.

Telles proceeded to make 50 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring one goal and providing eight assists across all competitions. However, his inconsistent performances and inability to deal with the Premier League’s intensity forced United to loan him out in the summer – it remains to be seen whether he will remain at the club ahead of the 2023/24 season.
