Manchester United Win the Race for Gabriele Biancheri

Manchester United have seemingly won the race to sign teenage forward Biancheri from Championship side Cardiff City. The young starlet is set to join the Red Devils as a scholar. Romano and various other reports in the past few days have commented that the deal is close to being announced by all parties. Biancheri enjoyed an impressive season for the Cardiff’s Under-16 side last term, scoring 17 goals and providing ten assists for his teammates.

The young striker has represented Wales three times at under-17 level, and Erik ten Hag will be hoping he can make the leap up to the first team in the coming seasons. The youngster was recommended by David Hughes, who left his role as Cardiff City academy manager to join United as a Professional Development Phase coach.

United look to the future

The Old Trafford academy has a rich history of producing great talent. Many will remember or be aware of the class of 92 and how they helped lay the foundations of success at Manchester United.

Since that golden era, the academy has remained one of the best, despite the club experiencing a rollercoaster last decade. The coaches have continued to identify top talent and give them chances, with Alejandro Garnacho being the most recent youngster to break through.

The Argentine under-20 international enjoyed a wonderful youth cup campaign last season, scoring seven goals in the competition. The Old Trafford scouts have been focussed on bringing in some of the best talents, with the club in recent seasons signing Alvaro Fernandez from Real Madrid and Marc Jurado from Barcelona.

What Biancheri Will Bring to Old Trafford

Biancheri is a striker who can operate anywhere in attack. He has a keen eye for goal and has been described as a “pacy, sharp and dynamic forward.” In addition to representing Wales at under 17 level, he is also eligible to play for Italy and England. 

The young forward will initially join as a scholar before signing a professional contract when he turns 17. It’s vital to plan for the future, and United fans will be hoping the 16-year-old will fulfil his potential and have a bright future at Old Trafford.
