Manchester United Considering 124-Goal Former Chelsea Player as ‘Fallback’ Forward Option

Tammy Abraham

Manchester United have included AS Roma forward Tammy Abraham among the potential forward signing options for the summer transfer window, as per The Telegraph’s James Ducker. The Red Devils are reportedly looking to sign a new striker after the season is over, having only signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley until the end of the campaign.

United Consider Abraham as ‘Fallback Option’

The Red Devils have struggled to find many goals through their no.9 position this season. Anthony Martial has been injured for large chunks of the season and Weghorst hasn’t played much to make a huge impact. A lot of the goal-scoring responsibilities have fallen to Marcus Rashford, who fortunately is having the best season of his career with 25 goals across all competitions.

Ducker further indicates that Abraham is not a major option for the Red Devils, who are actually prioritising the signing of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen or Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane to bolster their squad next season. The Roma forward is still being mooted as one of the many options in case the Manchester side aren’t able to sign either of those two strikers.

Abraham Impressing for AS Roma Since Chelsea Exit

The 25-year-old striker left Chelsea in 2021, with the Blues opting to sign Romelu Lukaku to improve their frontline that year. Abraham has gone on to enjoy a pretty prolific career with Roma so far and excelled under Jose Mourinho. He helped them win the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, scoring 27 goals and providing five assists across all competitions.

Abraham has done a pretty good job for them this campaign scoring seven goals, and providing five assists for the Italian side and helping them keep pace in the Serie A top-four race. The Englishman has scored 124 goals in his professional domestic career so far and could get more interest from the Red Devils if he can further improve his goal output.
