He would want to have a deeper squad as Arsenal prepare to compete in multiple competitions after the World Cup break.

Palmeiras President Gives Update on Arsenal Target Danilo

Arsenal Looking at a Summer 2023 Deal for Midfielder

Arsenal were pursuing a deal in the summer for Danilo. A £21 million offer for the Brazilian was reportedly rejected by Palmeiras. The Brazilian club did not want to sell the 21-year old then as they were competing for a league title. They were also in the midst of their Copa Libertadores campaign. Danilo played an important role in helping Palmeiras reclaim the Serie A title.

The Gunners have now turned their attention to Leicester City star Youri Tielemans. The Belgian has been on Arteta’s wishlist for a long time. Initially, Arsenal were willing to wait till the summer to acquire Tielemans on a free transfer. However, with other clubs showing interest, the North London side might look to ramp up their interest in the 25-year old. This could mean that Arsenal might plan to sign Danilo only in the next summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Palmeiras President Talks on Danilo’s Future

Palmeiras president Leila Pereira had this to say in a recent interview with ge.globo: “Danilo is a very important player for our squad. As of now, we’ve not received any proposal from teams abroad. We haven’t had any consultations, if we do, we will analyse what’s best for Palmeiras and the player.” The midfielder has established himself as a key member of the squad. He has made 71 league appearances for the senior team in his first three seasons.

Danilo backed himself to make an impact in European football . “I see myself as mature enough to play in any competition in the world. I’m ready,” the midfielder was quoted saying in a recent interview with Uol Esporte. Danilo’s teenaged teammate Endrick recently secured a move to Real Madrid. Arsenal may not be in talks to sign Danilo, but he might very well be the next Palmeiras player moving to play in Europe.
