Christopher Nkunku Chelsea Medical

The Telegraph’s Matt Law has confirmed that Christopher Nkunku has already undergone his Chelsea medical ahead of his proposed move to the West London club.

Several reports had come out of Germany in the past few days, although the accuracy of those reports was under scrutiny. What Would Nkunku Bring to Chelsea?

Goals, goals and more goals.

Christopher Nkunku hasn’t always been a prolific goalscorer and has had to develop that side of his game. During his time at Paris Saint-Germain, the Frenchman scored just eight Ligue 1 goals in 55 appearances for the club – not exactly a mind-blowing return.

However, Nkunku has taken his game to the next level at RB Leipzig and is now one of the most potent forwards in the Bundesliga; scoring 24 goals in his last 41 appearances in the competition.

The forward is more than just a goalscorer though.

In the 2021/22 Bundesliga campaign, on top of scoring 20 league goals, the forward also registered an impressive 15 assists. It’s no wonder that Leeds United midfielder, and former teammate of Nkunku at Leipzig Tyler Adams, hailed the attacker as “something special”.

Christopher Nkunku provides goals and assists, and can play in a variety of positions across the front line – he is the very definition of a complete forward.

Could Nkunku Be Another Timo Werner?

There is always the possibility that a player coming from abroad could struggle in the Premier League, perhaps none more so than Timo Werner. It is true that There are similarities between the two, both are not necessarily out-and-out number nines, and both have scored the majority of their goals in Germany.

However, what sets the Frenchman apart is the fact that he has proven himself on the European stage. In the 2021/22 Champions League campaign, the striker scored seven goals and registered one assist in just six appearances – putting in impressive displays against both his former club Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.

That suggests that Christopher Nkunku definitely has the ability to perform against the very best sides in world football, and looks to be a very good signing for Chelsea, should they be able to finalise the move next summer.
