Romano: ‘Here We Go!’ – Leeds United Complete Striker Deal as Winger Leaves to Premier League Side

'Here we go' on Dan James sale

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United have completed an agreement to sign Bamba Dieng, whilst winger Dan James is leaving the club for Fulham on a year-long loan. A centre-forward has been a key part of the Whites’ recruitment strategy so far in this transfer window.

‘Here We Go’ For One In, One Out Deal

Why is Dan James Leaving?

This transfer window has been incredibly productive for Leeds United. Elland Road has welcomed Brenden Aaronson and Luis Sinisterra in the front line, which means that Dan James is likely to struggle for as many minutes as last season.

Fulham could be the perfect destination for the Welshman. He is excellent at creating chances, and with a starting berth likely at Craven Cottage, he can secure his place in the Wales World Cup squad by using this vision and pace to provide chances for Aleksandr Mitrovic.

Who is Bamba Dieng?

Bamba Dieng is a Senegalese international, with an Africa Cup of Nations winner’s medal to his name. Currently at Olympique Marseille, Dieng is making the move on permanent basis after impressing in his first full season as a senior professional. With seven goals last season, in addition to impressive performances in European competition, the Senegalese striker could have quite an impact at Elland Road.

Is Leeds United’s Business Done?

After these agreements, there is not likely to be any business left to do. The only other position Leeds lack depth in is left-back, and with Junior Firpo returning from injury there are very few rumours of any movement in this position.

One possible area of movement at Thorp Arch is youth players leaving on loan. With Charlie Cresswell and Jamie Shackleton leaving to Millwall on loan already, the Yorkshire club have a clear interest in nurturing talent and letting prospects build over time into more valuable assets. This could be the case for players such as Crysencio Summerville.
