What Could the Deal Look Like?

There are a few options for the deal. The first is the potential for a straight purchase. According to David Ornstein, as much as talks remain ongoing there is a difference in the valuations that both clubs place on the player. This could be a serious barrier to the deal.

However, Ornstein also stated that there is potential for a loan move. A move for Aubameyang until the end of the season could be ideal, with the Blues shoring up their attacking options without shelling out for the relatively high fee Barcelona demand.

Why Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?

The Gabonese international is a good option for Chelsea. The first benefit of the attacker is that, in bringing him to Stamford Bridge, the club gain a lot of experience. With a deep history in the Premier League, Aubameyang could hit the ground running and add to his existing goal tally.

Another benefit of choosing the Barcelona forward is that he offers a significant central threat. There isn’t a senior out and out striker at Cobham, and Aubameyang has plenty of experience attacking up the middle of the pitch.

Why Are Barcelona Selling?

There are a few reasons for Barcelona to consider a sell. The first is the fact Las Blaugrana has struggled with finances over the past few years, coming dangerously close to FFP limits. The Gabonese forward could be a valuable asset who commands a large fee.

Furthermore, Aubameyang is simply not necessary at the Nou Camp. The arrival of Robert Lewandowski has thrust him down the pecking order, so a move away from the Catalan club could be ideal for all parties.
