Chelsea Consider Late Move for Wilfried Zaha

Chelsea are weighing up a late move for Zaha, with the club looking to add reinforcements to their attack before the transfer window closes at 23:00 on September 1st. The Ivory Coast international has started this season in impressive form with three goals in as many Premier League games this season.

David Ornstein of The Athletic is reporting the West London club are having second thoughts about signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona. There is seemingly a question mark about the value of the deal on offer, with the Barcelona striker being 33 with an expectation of a high salary.

The Selhurst Park star has 12 months left on his contract, and he’s conscious that a big move away could be his last chance. Despite prioritising Aubameyang, Chelsea are yet to agree a fee for the Gabon international. With the transfer window winding down, the club are watching Zaha, as they did earlier this window.

What the Attacker Could Bring to Chelsea

He would bring plenty to the Chelsea attack. He is never afraid to take on a defender with a trick and use his exceptional speed. His direct style of play would excite the Stamford Bridge faithful. He can operate on either flank with great effectiveness, but he can also play in a free central role, where he can get on the ball and use his balance and speed to go past players with ease.

Zaha would bring goals to the West London club, as proven by his 14 Premier League goals in 33 games last season. In more recent years the Palace attacker has played as a forward as opposed to a winger, which is noticeable when you see that his assist stats have decreased in recent years.
