Failed Breakthrough

The 28-year-old made his move to London in 2018 after impressing in the Serie A for Roma. Despite being a part of The Blues squad for most of his tenure with the club he never managed to make a strong impression on the first team. His most active season at Stamford Bridge came in 2018/19 and saw him make 27 appearances across all competitions with only ten of those in the Premier League.

The Italian departs the side having made just 71 appearances in all competitions since joining the West London outfit in January 2018.

A Good Signing

Despite not being able to make his way into the first team at Chelsea, Palmieri is a strong player with a lot to offer. He spent the 2021/22 season on loan in Ligue 1 with Lyon and made 36 appearances for the French side in an ultimately disappointing season that saw the club finish 8th in the league.

The left-back has also managed to secure a spot in the Italian national team over the past year or so. When Ben Chilwell got injured there was even consideration that Thomas Tuchel may recall the 28-year-old to step into the left-wing back spot but nothing became of it.

For a reported fee of £15 million, The Irons have pulled off a decent signing here and maybe the team to unleash the full potential of the former Roma man.
